山口県下関市の水族館「海響館」は２０１６年５月２４日、
国内で初めてペンギンの人工授精に成功したと発表しました。
海響館などによると世界でもまだ２施設目で、今回は凍結精子を用いた珍しいケースだそうです。
海響館は「半永久的に保存可能な凍結精子での成功は、種の保全に向けて貢献できる有効な技術となる」としてます。
